About this camp

The Sally Ride Science Academy at UC San Diego offers hands-on robotics workshops for high school students (grades 9-12) interested in cutting-edge fields like AI and robotics. Students will explore robotics and automation, learning to program robots using JavaScript. Activities include writing programs to make a robot interact with its environment, building and programming an Arduino-compatible robot, and learning about robot positioning and 3D modeling with OpenJSCAD. The curriculum also covers basic electronics, adding drivers and sensors to a cardboard bot, and an introduction to machine vision using OpenCV-JS. Students will gain an understanding of classical and modern AI methods and their implications for robotics. Each week-long workshop provides 1.5 pre-college credits.
