About this camp

The Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (SEAP) is an eight-week summer internship that places academically talented high school students in Department of Navy (DoN) laboratories across the country. Participants work alongside naval scientists and engineers on real-world research projects, gaining hands-on experience in various STEM fields. The program emphasizes mentorship, professional development, and exposure to advanced technology and research practices. Students contribute to ongoing projects, develop technical skills, and gain a deeper understanding of STEM careers within the Naval defense sector. Many participants go on to pursue careers within the DoN or related STEM fields, with some even returning for college-level internships.

What a typical day looks like

Participants are required to work five days a week, 40 hours per week, actively engaging in research problems, planning sessions, and special program seminars under the direction of NRL scientists and engineers.
